Virtues of the Quran

The Quran is the speech of Allah

The Quran is the speech of Allah (swt) which Jibriil (as) came down with to the Prophet (saws). Allah detailed in the Quran everything and clarified to us the correct path and the false path and warned us in it from every evil and commanded us in it with every good.

Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that you might bring mankind out of darknesses into the light by permission of their Lord – to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy –

[Surat ‘Ibrāhīm 14:1]

And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.
[Surat An-Naĥl 16:89]

Recitation of the Quran

Allah (swt) has legislated for us the recitation of the Quran and has made it from the greatest acts of worship and has commanded us with that by saying:

So recite what is easy from it and establish prayer and give zakah and loan Allah a goodly loan.
Surat Al-Muzzammil

[Surat Al-Muzzammil 73:20]

The reciter of the Quran

The one who busies himself by reciting the Quran, understanding the Quran and learning the branches of knowledge related to the Quran, then this person is from the best of the people as the prophet (saws) said:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.”

The one who has perfected his recitation of the Quran and read it with Tajweed and beautified it, preserved whatever he memorised of it and he became in all of that very skillful, then he has the level of the angels as the prophet told us:

‘Aishah reported the Prophet (ﷺ) as saying:
One who is skilled in the Qur’an is associated with the noble, upright recording angels, and he who falters when he recites the Qur’an and finds it difficult for him will have a double reward.
[Abi Daud, graded Sahih by Sh. Albani]

The first one who carried out the command of his lord and busied himself with the recitation of the Quran was our Prophet (saws). He used to recite his portion of the Quran everyday in the last third of the night and he used to be from the best of the people in terms of voice and recitation.
