Some Facts about the Quran

  • The Quran is the Word of Allah.
  • The Quran was revealed to the last Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the Angel Jibril.
  • The Quran revealed in stages over a period of about 23 years.
  • The revelation of the Quran began in the month of Ramadan. In the year 610 CE, In the cave of Hira in the hills outside Makkah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was 40 years old.
  • The first five verses of Surat al-Alaq were the first to be revealed.
  • The second verses to be revealed were the beginning of Surat al-Muddathir.
  • The message of the Qur’an is very simple and clear.
  • It is a guidance for all of mankind.
  • Allah took it upon Himself to preserve the Quran. The purity of its text has never been changed, not even a syllable, not even a word, in the last 1 400 years, and will remain so until the end of time .
  • The Quran should be read, memorised and studied with the intention of seeking Allah’s pleasure.
  • The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, ‘The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it to Others’.
